In the introduction the atlas is described and the history of this particular copy of the Landessternwarte Heidelberg is introduced. The catalogue volume is divided in three parts, the preface, the description of the charts and the constellations together with some astronomical problems and tables, and finally the catalogue itself, listing all stars engraved to the plates. The atlas itself, originally in a seperate volume, is presented in reduced resolution. Examples for the full resolution can be found in the introduction.

Based on this copy Bode's Atlas was republished in original format by the Förderkreis der Landessternwarte Heidelberg e.V. (an non-profit organization to financially support the work of the observatory) in the Astaria Verlag.
